This year we are working hard on becoming an Active School! We have formed our committee and encouraging events more activity throughout our school! All the boys and girls are very excited about this, and are eager to participate fully in the active schools programme.
September 2023
We formed our Active Schools Committe. We have representatives from 2nd to 6th classes. Our Committee will have regular meetings to work on various activities throughout the year.
We took part in #essd European Schools Sports Day. We organised a whole school Circuits activity. Great fun was had!
We are very lucky to have an extremely supportive local GAA Club, who are very involved with us here in school. They present our infants with Clashmore/ Kinsalebeg Club jerseys every September.
October
We had a very exciting Halloween Open themed Day! #activehalloween All of our boys and girls dressed up in their Halloween costumes and one of our local GAA coaches Barry Dunne organised games for the children to play. We were delighted to be joined by some future entrants also. It was a great day!
November
We took part in the Olympic Movement Breaks challenge! Lots of various sports were demonstrated by sports people, so as well as trying out new skills, the boys and girls found out about interesting Irish sports people.
December
In December, our Active Committee organised a 12 Days of Fitmass!
January 2024
We had a competition to pick our Active School’s slogan!
The Active School’s Committee did a whole school survery to see which sports clubs the children are involved in and designed a bar chart.
These are all displayed on our Active School’s noticeboard.
February
We went to swimming lessons to our local pool Aura in Youghal.
March & April
We had lots of fun ‘Learning on the Move’ and completing orienteering activities as we made great use of our Active Walkway cards.
We also loved the movement and workout activities that the Active Schools Committee organised for Active Schools Week.
